CPSC Issues Urgent Warning on Certain Rad Power Bike Batteries
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued an urgent safety warning advising consumers to immediately stop using specific Rad Power Bikes battery packs due to a serious fire hazard. The affected battery models—RP-1304 and HL-RP-S1304—have been linked to 31 reported fires, including multiple incidents that resulted in significant property damage.
According to the CPSC, these batteries may ignite even when they are not charging, and the risk increases if the battery or its wiring harness has been exposed to water or debris. The agency also reports that Rad Power Bikes has not agreed to a full recall and has stated it cannot provide replacement batteries or refunds to all affected customers.
